SSG donates fencing and labor to City of Wilder to make park safer for children....

This year our community assistance project was for the City of Wilder, a small town in southern Idaho.  The project was to put the fence up on the edge of the city park to make the playground safer for children.

I was the expert on the fence, and I had one other father help me.  We had kids in shifts of 20 each.  We donated used posts, new tension wire, new tension bars, the city donated used fence materials, and a slat supplier donated the slats for free.  Concrete was provided.

Day 1, 20 kids to dig 25 post holes.  Only 3 post hole diggers.  Wind blew 30 mph, farmer plowing field next to us major dusty-         Batch Plant crew came in after that and we placed 1.5 yards in about an hour.   Finished the posts about 4 pm.

Day 2,  Started about 9:30 am, rolled out the terrible used fabric and spliced it together, framed the fence and installed top tension wire.  Got fence up and then it snowed, sleeted, hailed, rained and blew very hard right before lunch.  After lunch, got fence hog ringed up and started the slats.  The kids all arrived and we got to slat with all of the kids.  I unfortunately grabbed the steel ties instead of aluminum, so I had to help tie.  I tied 2x as fast as the two fathers helping me combined.  Lots of fun.  Kids got it all in and had fun.
